Pauline Beugnies was born in 1982 in Charleroi in Belgium. She is Now based in Cairo, Egypt, where she has been learning arabic for two years. She finished journalism studies in Ihecs, Brussels in 2005. That’s where she took her first step in documentary photography, working on a story on street kids in Kinshasa, Congo for her final project. Following this great experience, she has been working on different projects in Congo, Bangladesh, Albania, mainly giving a central place to people in her pictures. She was given a grant of the Belgian Fondation de la Vocation in 2007. And Pauline was one of the recipient of the Open National Photography Prize in 2010, which is followed by an exhibition at the Photography Museum of Charleroi, Belgium.

Today, she want to focus on the arab and the islamic world, trying to build bridges. She is currently working on an essay on Egyptian youth. She has been published in Le Monde Magazine, Telerama, Liberation, L'Express, The Guardian, Jeune Afrique, La Croix, Le Soir, La Libre Belgique,...
