There is no such thing as belgian photography. Our tiny country has a complex history and special place in the world. Its position encourages us to cross (language)borders, to explore and try to understand the world, and translate that in visual storytelling.
We are not claiming to represent Belgium, our goal is to unite. Out of Focus is a one of a kind belgian photography collective, engaged to long term and personal projects, seeking to unfold the complexity of contemporary issues. What unites us: A particular collective vision and individual focus. We share one passion, the same concerns and strong common beliefs on how and why it is important to document our world and to rejoin our forces.
The collective was founded in 2006 by Colin Delfosse, Pauline Beugnies and Thomas Freteur. Mathias Depardon, Philippe Braquenier and Sanne De Wilde joined in 2016.
